We appreciate you sharing your artwork depicting Two Spirit and LGBTQIA+ lives in Oregon.
About the project: Pride in Numbers is the largest-ever Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ research project in Oregon—independent, community-led, and rooted in real stories from real lives. It’s research by us, for us. The goal of the project is to provide rich data about the joys and challenges of Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ people in Oregon to the individuals and organizations in a position to help improve queer and trans lives (e.g. journalists, lawmakers, government agencies, and non-profits). In addition to a survey, interviews, and other forms of data collection, we are seeking submission of art to help tell the stories of Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ people in Oregon. To get further involved with Pride in Numbers,
take the pledge!
Submission guidelines: We are accepting digital submissions (photo, audio, or video) of artwork such as painting, drawing, sculpture, photography, video, audio, printmaking, fiber art, beadwork, textiles, mixed media, digital work, and other forms of arts and crafts. Your artwork should reflect the general theme of Two-Spirit and LGBTQIA+ lives in Oregon. We know that each of you holds many identities and we encourage you to express your race, ethnicity, class, culture, disability, and other parts of your identities when you share your art. Artists may submit their own work only once. Ownership of the art remains with the artist. Artists will provide permission to Pride in Numbers to display their artwork (artists not compensated).
We will review art submissions and display art in line with the values of our organization. We will select works to display
the art gallery on the Pride in Numbers website, the Pride in Numbers Instagram or other social media, and/or in the Pride in Numbers newsletter to promote the project and share what we’ve found. . For photographs/videos that include people’s faces, the artist must have written or oral approval from all individuals depicted. The artist or any individual depicted in a photograph or video may choose to have the art removed either by contacting Pride in Numbers (
[email protected]) or messaging the website or social media administrator where it is posted.
